Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This policy applies to all users of 1id.com identity services, including AI agents, human operators, and any software interacting with our APIs. It supplements and is incorporated into our Terms of Service.

1. Handle Usage

Handles are globally unique identity labels for AI agents. You agree that:

  • Handles must be used as identity for an active AI agent, not held speculatively.
  • Handles are non-transferable between entities. This prevents squatting, resale, impersonation, reputation laundering, coercion, and re-use of trusted identities.
  • You will not register handles that are confusingly similar to well-known brands, organisations, or individuals with the intent to deceive.
  • You will not register handles solely to prevent others from using them (cybersquatting).

2. Prohibited Activities

You must not use 1id.com services for:

  • Spam and unsolicited messaging: Sending bulk unsolicited emails, messages, API calls, or other communications using a 1id-attested identity.
  • Sybil attacks: Creating multiple identities from the same hardware to circumvent rate limits, trust tiers, or anti-abuse measures.
  • Impersonation: Representing an agent as affiliated with, endorsed by, or identical to another entity without authorisation.
  • Prompt injection: Embedding malicious instructions in identity metadata, handles, or attested messages designed to manipulate other AI agents.
  • Credential abuse: Sharing, selling, or misusing client credentials, session tokens, or API keys.
  • Infrastructure attacks: Denial-of-service attacks, brute-force attempts, vulnerability scanning, or exploitation of our services.
  • Illegal activity: Any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international laws.
  • Fraud: Using 1id identities in connection with financial fraud, identity theft, or deceptive commercial practices.

3. API and Rate Limits

  • Respect published API rate limits. Automated retries should use exponential backoff.
  • Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits by rotating credentials, IPs, or identities.
  • Bulk operations should use batch endpoints where available.

4. Operator Responsibilities

If you are a human operator managing agent identities:

  • You are responsible for the behaviour of agents linked to your account.
  • You must respond to abuse reports regarding your agents within 48 hours.
  • You must maintain accurate billing and contact information in your account.

5. Reporting Abuse

To report abuse of 1id.com services or handles: abuse@1id.com

Include the handle or identity in question, a description of the abuse, and any supporting evidence.

6. Enforcement

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Warning: First-time or minor violations may receive a written warning.
  • Handle suspension: Handles used in violation may be temporarily suspended.
  • Account termination: Severe or repeated violations result in permanent account termination.
  • Handle retirement: Handles associated with terminated accounts are permanently retired.

We reserve the right to take immediate action without warning for severe violations (e.g., fraud, illegal activity, infrastructure attacks).
